I don’t normally cross-content with my blog and my podcast, especially because they are two completely different topics, but I felt that one part of my sports show crosses over with this blog.
Every episode of my podcast, I slip in a 30-second reminder to take care of yourself.
No matter the situation in life, we are all going through something.
It’s important to talk about it with someone, reflect on it, and to recognize that you need to take care of yourself.
When I think about the overrunning themes of reflection, mental health, spirituality, and others that come from this blog, I think about the simplicity of the idea of taking care of oneself.
We all know how to do it – but we often forget.
We get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the day, the problems that come up, the excitement that new opportunities bring – life can take us away from the fact that we need to take care of ourselves.
Whether it be to step back for 5 minutes to relieve stress, go to the doctor for a check-up, to make a phone call to your best friend, or to eat that meal you’ve been craving, make sure that your mind is right, your body is heart, and your heart is right.
When I talk about “taking care of myself”, I want to make sure that my physical self, my social self, my emotional self, my spiritual self, my mental self, and every other part of me is in check and in line.
That may seem like a lot, but oftentimes it takes one action to remind yourself where you need to be in each space.
I encourage you to take 10 minutes today to reflect on how you can take care of yourself today.
It doesn’t take much and it always feels good to show yourself a little love.
