It’s always funny to catch yourself in the midst of thought.
I find myself “spaced out” in thought sometimes – then I realize I’m doing it and snap out of it.
I’ve always tried to maintain focus when I’m diving into my thoughts.
Lately, I haven’t had to catch myself in the middle of thought.
Why?
Because I’ve been mindful of my mindset.
Before I even jump into a thought, I stay engaged with myself and remind myself of where I am, what I am doing, what’s going on in the present.
It’s okay to have a thought, but it’s not okay to let your thought disengage you from the moment.
I don’t want to get lost in my thought – I want to stay engaged at all times.
Staying engaged helps me stay reminded and I’m able to relax and think without giving up the moment.
In the past, I really struggled with staying in the moment.
I would just jump into whatever thought came up and I wasn’t experiencing the moment around me.
It really took away from my connection to the people and the world around me.
I’ve had to learn how to be mindful of my mindset.
I’m currently reading a book titled “Wherever You Go, There You Are” and it is a book about mindfulness.
The title itself explains a lot about what I want to do in life – wherever I go, I want to be present.
I want to experience what’s going on around me.
I want my mind to be focused.
I want to be able to think and reflect clearly.
Recognition is one thing, but being mindful is another.
I’ve had to learn that – just because I’m aware I’m thinking something doesn’t mean my mind is in the right place.
I encourage you to put your mind in the right place today (wherever that may be).
If you have something specific on your mind today, remember to address it, but also stay engaged with the moment.
Stay present.
Stay mindful.
Keep the right mindset.
Easier said than done, but it is well worth it.
