Set your mind in the right mindset.

I had the experience of commuting today (further than my normal 1 block commute from my near campus home).

I drove to campus from my “home” home, after house sitting in Lee’s Summit (about a 30-minute drive).

During that drive, I got to experience the cool, clean weather we have this morning.

Also, I turned on my new fall jazz playlist and let it run.

I just focused on the moment…

And it was a good one.

How was it so easy to just sit back and enjoy it all?

Because I made a choice.

I made a choice to absorb the goodness around me.

There is always goodness around us.

It is easy to take our blessings for granted, because many of them are what we consider “just part of life”.

It is also easy to let the busyness and the clutter of our days get in the way.

I chose to put my mind in a good place today.

I know where I need my mind to be, so I set it right in the spot.

It’s a spot that can sometimes be hard to achieve, but that spot is the mindset of thankfulness, reflection, and joy.

I don’t really know how to describe it other than it was a perfect moment.

It was a perfect place for my mind to be.

And I will do my very best to return to that place when my mind wanders.

I know that you have a place your mind loves to be.

No matter where that is, I encourage you to try and put your mind in that place.

It’s an easy choice to make to put our mind where it should be, although I know it is easier said than done.

There are a lot of distractions in the world…

Put the distractions to the side.

Focus on where you want to be.

Find the spot…

Take your mind…

And set your mind in the right mindset.

I hope it’s perfect.
