Finding beauty.

In a world obsessed with self-improvement, we often view the present world as one that is gray and full of flaws.

So many things that we can do better personally, could be going better as a society, etc.

The mental outlook we hold affects our physical eyesight.

We start to be attentive to the mistakes made by others, to the cracks in the sidewalk, to the clouds blocking the sun.

It’s a “glass half-empty” vision, as the saying goes.

You sometimes have to choose to find beauty.

Well, all the time, if you can.

Sometimes what you see in front of you is hard to see, which means it is hard to find beauty (especially immediately).

But making the active choice ONCE to see beauty in the simple presence of life helps start a trend.

It’s all about the wiring of the human brain.

Our brains become wired on repeated decisions.

The more we do something, the more our brain recognizes it as “normal” in a patterned way.

We brush our teeth every morning at 7:30 AM, because our alarm goes off at 7 AM, which means we get tired at 11 PM, which means we eat dinner at 6 PM…

Your brain knows what’s going on. It gets in a loop of recognition and action.

So what if we applied some of our control to this?

How powerful could that be?

We start to tap into how our brain recognizes things, takes action…

As I have mentioned many times here, I always am trying to improve in something.

I frankly have a lot right now that I want to work on.

It’s been hard to view the present.

10/16/2023 will be a day that finding beauty is a different search.

Beauty is not hiding – it is in our blind spot from our brain wiring.

Beauty can be found in a breath – a blade of grass – a pet of your dog – it doesn’t need to be intricate.

It just needs to provide power to the heart.

Today, I am finding beauty in choice.

I am thankful to be able to make decisions.

And today, 10/16/2023, will be a day’s worth of decisions I will never forget.

PS – I hope to expand on this more and more over time. Today is a start date!

Every day is filled with beauty – we just have to take off the blinders.
