It starts with altruism.

What if every time we did something for someone, we did it with zero expectation that something would come back?

Whether that be something as “simple” as saying thank you, holding a door, giving a compliment, or something “big” like paying a bill, picking up a shift, etc.

I believe that when we give something to the world around us, it always returns in some way.

Whether that is directly from who/what we gave it to or not, the more we give, the more it seems to go our way.

We ought not to expect anything in return when we give. It is nice to receive something, but when we wake up every day, we are entitled to nothing.

Nobody owes me anything.

Nobody is obligated to care for me.

However, I know that if I give, if I show care, if I love hard, if I am my purest self, I will find the friends, the support, the love that will carry me through this life and beyond.

The best things come when we least expect them.

This feels like a result of letting it be.

Letting them decide how they spend their time and energy.

Letting the world spin, not putting pressure on an outcome.

Letting me continue to give, to love, to do and be my best.

It all starts with altruism.

The love we give always returns – we just have to wait for it sometimes.
